In this blog we’ll walk step-by-step through using Vinton notes. Vinton notes are really useful for adding ad-hoc updates after a customer interaction. For a video explainer, visit our video gallery.

Step 1: Browse to the relevant record

Vinton notes are added against records in Salesforce. If you’re adding a note for a Contact, browse to that contact. If that contact is associated with an Account or Opportunity, the note will also appear there too.

In this example, we’re on a Contact record. The Vinton component has been added to the right hand side of this page layout and the Hey Vinton button is available for recording audio notes.

To start recording your note, click Hey Vinton.

Step 2: Recording hints

If your Salesforce Admin has set up recording hints for Vinton, those will appear.

Start speaking your note. You can stop or pause your note using the buttons provided.

Step 4: After finishing your recording

Once you’ve finished recording, you can playback your note, you can Retake it or you can click Approve for Vinton to process the note.

Step 5: Processing the note

Vinton can take some time to process your audio note. That’s because Vinton is doing a lot of work behind the scenes. Vinton transcribes the note, then AI prepares a summary, suggests next steps and drafts a follow up email.

The Audio Note component will refresh on a regular basis whilst processing. Vinton will also send you an email to notify you when your note is ready.

Step 6: What Vinton captures in Salesforce

Once your note has finished processing, you’ll see the summary available in Salesforce. You can also see the suggested next steps, an email draft and the original transcript.

You can edit these elements if you need to.

Step 7: Creating a task from a Vinton follow-up suggestion

Next to each of the listed next steps, you can see a small square icon under the heading “Create task”. Clicking on that icon will automatically create a Salesforce task. It will also change the colour of the square icon to more fully orange to indicate a task has been created.
